Getting out with the family doesn’t need to cost a fortune. There are plenty of things to do for free, or nearly free!
One of our favourite places to visit is Bushy Park in Richmond.
It is part of the Queen’s estates and is very well-kept. It’s a large outdoor space with a lovely large park, lots of grounds to explore and run or cycle around and plenty of flowers and wildlife to picture.
It is free to park too which is a bonus!
We headed off there last weekend armed with a picnic to enjoy a day of free family fun!
We had our picnic in the gorgeous Woodland Gardens which is a nice peaceful area of winding paths, streams, pretty flowers, plenty of space to sit down and explore.
When we had finished our picnic we decided to take a stroll towards the playground. On our way out of the Woodland Gardens we spotted Mummy, Daddy and 3 baby geese!
We made sure not to get to close as you could tell that Mum and Dad were slightly on edge
We then passed a stream with some fish in, and I even spotted some tadpoles
There are a lot of wild deer in Bushy Park and it’s so nice to see them in their natural habitat. You could literally spend all day just watching them. We watched 2 of them cross the lake to join the others.
Paul took Jake, Kyla and Abigail off to the park whilst I had a walk around the lake trying to get Zachary to have a nap. We walk straight through the herd of deer. I even managed to get up really close to them to take a few pictures – although I made sure we didn’t get too close as I didn’t want to scare them off.
We had a really lovely day out, which cost us hardly anything! We are looking forward to many more days out there now the weather is getting warmer….maybe next time I’ll don my running gear and go for a run or take the bikes with us!!
