Today we booked a mini family holiday. We will be going to Coombe Mill in St. Breward, Cornwall.
I haven’t been to Cornwall for years. My Grandparents used to live in a small hamlet called Treveighan, just outside of St Teath near the Bodmin Moor, until they sadly passed away in 2000. The last time I travelled to Cornwall was for my grandfathers cremation.
I spent many weeks with my grandparents and loved the country. We would spend Easter and then the majority of the summer holidays there. When I was 13, I was having problems at home and wanted to live with my Nan. My Nan was all for it and was happy for me to go, but my Mother wouldn’t allow it. I was shattered. I was really close to my Nan and I loved where she lived. One of the first things I wanted to do when I passed my driving test was to drive down to my Nan and Grandads. Sadly, they died 2 years before I got the chance.
I vowed that I would be back. That I would take the children to the gorgeous beaches that I was taken to and take them for a drive along Bodmin Moor so we can shout “Mint Sauce” to the sheep (I was young and my Grandad encouraged us kids to do it and hey, we thought it was fun!).
When I came across Coombe Mill on Twitter and checked out their website I just KNEW we had to go there! They’re not far from where my Grandparents lived and their array of self-catering cottages, Scandanavian Lodges and Riverside lodges in a picteresque setting in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, are stunning.
Coombe Mill very much caters for the family. Some of the cottages have specific “play dens”. There are animals on the farm, as well as outdoor and indoor play areas for the children and 30 acres of land to explore.
We are really looking forward to having a mini break, it really has been too long and will be good to spend some time together as a family in such a beautiful setting.
I really recommend that you check out Coombe Mill if you fancy a little getaway in the beautful West Country. We have a few weeks until our holiday, but be sure to check back where I can tell you all about it!!
