Christmas is a magical season, and what better way to kick it off than to visit the set of one of the most magical film series?
Once again, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is covered in a blanket of snow, as Hogwarts in the Snow returns.
As well as seeing the castle’s festive makeover close up, you also see the iconic Great Hall decorated for Christmas using the actual golden partridges, baubles and props that were used in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
A total of eight Christmas trees line the set with the two long dining tables decorated with seasonal feasts including prop versions of turkeys, hams, fruit, vegetables and snow cakes.
For the first time at the Studio Tour, the Special Effects Department have used coloured lights and a special vapour that flickers and dances to create ‘fire’ in the Great Hall and Gryffindor common room fireplaces.
Seeing Hogwarts in the Snow was my third time at the Studio Tours. The past two times I have been, I have had the kids with me. This time, I took my friend Rachel – and it was so much fun! It was great being able to take our time around the studio’s and actually take in the magnificent sets and appreciate how much effort has gone in to every single prop and drawing.
We took a good three hours working our way round, and we both discovered bits that we had previously missed when visiting before.
I have said before, it doesn’t matter if you’re not a fan of the books or never seen the film, the studio tour is still a must see and Hogwarts in the Snow is so magical, that it would definitely be the best time to go!
Hogwarts in the Snow is running until Sunday, February 1st, 2015 so you have plenty of time to go – or maybe treat a loved one to a spectacular gift this christmas!
