Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome

The ultimate MUST HAVE for any Hot Wheels fan is the brand new DVD, Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome which is out on Monday September 8th, 2014.

The film is all about four lucky kids who embark on a mission against mysterious monsters and villains in an attempt to save the sleepy town of Hilly Woodlands.

Gage, Wyatt, Brandon and Rhett are kids that are born to ride. Separately they are seriously skilled racers, but together they become the ultra-speedy and unstoppable Team Hot Wheels realising that life in the slowest town in the world is much better in the fast lane.

The boys wished for something awesome to spice up their sleepy town, and when a mysterious black car roars into town creating a wild mess of orange track, it’s just the kind of awesome they wanted! However, it also creates some surprise crazy transformations of rampaging monsters, which is not so awesome!

It’s down to Team Hot Wheels to work together and stop this masked villain, battle the monster madness, and save Hilly Woodlands from becoming a desert of destruction.

To celebrate Team Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome, we were invited to Daytona at Sandown Park for the kids to have some Hot Wheels action!

Hot Wheels

Both Jake and Kyla had the opportunity to pretend to be real racing drivers as they raced around the tracks in Karts.

We arrived bright and early and older two were rearing to go. We signed them in and they were given their overalls to change in to.

There was a little time to wait before the children had to go for their briefing – but there were two great Hot Wheels tracks to keep them entertained.

Hot Wheels

Soon it was time for briefing and the children were shown a little video about racing and want is and isn’t allowed on the track – and then it was time to get going!

Because Kyla is only 7, she was in the Bambino Karts which are for children aged 5-7 years and at least 103cm tall.

The kart was definitely the right size for her and picked it up pretty quickly – although she is a little heavy on the accelerator!

Jake was in the Juniors section which is for children aged 8-15 years. Jake was very excited to get going. He was in a group of 4 and they all headed out on the track one by one for a practice lap before the ‘race’ started.

A little cautious at first, but Jake soon got the hang of it and speeding up a little. He had amazing control of the kart considering it was his first time and he’s a rather skinny little thing.

Once the racing had finished, it was back in for a de-brief session and certificates – and because Jake was in the Juniors, it meant he got a print out of his lap times. He was chuffed to discover he had come second overall!!

You can see more pictures from the day over on Daytona’s Facebook Page!

We thoroughly enjoyed our morning, and we are planning on going back again with the children!

Hot Wheels: The Origin of Awesome is available to own on DVD from September 8th 2014.
