LeapFrog Scribble and Write Review

LeapFrog Scribble and Write – a Review

Scribble and Write

As a parent, education is a big thing and I try to encourage the children where I can to learn as much as they can and to practice as often as they can.

I have mentioned before that Abigail is now 3 and we have decided against her attending nursery in favour of me teaching her at home. She is a very clever little girl, eager to learn and quick to pick things up.

The LeapFrog Scribble & Write is a fun learning console which encourages children from 3 years+ to write by tracing over lower and upper case letters and numbers. With the lights and stroke by stroke guidance, the Scribble & Write makes it easy for pre-schoolers to follow the pattern of a letter or number. They can then see it on the screen, before swiping it away and picking another letter or number to practice.

The Scribble & Write also uses phonics to sound each letter – so your child is learning to recognise what each letter and numbers 1-10 look and sound like.

 Our Thoughts

Scribble and Write The console isn’t overly large which makes it easy for little hands to hold and fits in a back pack so is easily portable. The little attached pen keeps safe clipped in at the back which stops it getting ruined and tangled up. The pen itself has little finger grips on, to encourage children to hold a pen properly and again, it fits perfectly in to little hands.

The Scribble & Write is easy to use with 3 different learning modes and 2 levels. Level 1 is a ‘Free Play’ level shows the stroke order and shape of the letter or number using animated lights. Level 2 is an accuracy based level which gives stroke by stroke guidance and tells the child if they miss a stroke.

Abigail really enjoyed playing with the Scribble & Write. She loves drawing and pretending to write letters so this was a perfect step up to encourage her to start forming the actual shapes of letters and numbers. The animated lights and voice instruction makes learning to write fun and enjoyable.

I love that it has a rewritable surface so Abigail can write over and over again until she gets how to write the letter or number – and that it will automatically turn itself off  once it’s been inactive for a while!

Scribble & Write is available to buy from major retailers and costs around £19.99
