#MDFV2015: Marmaris and Paradise Island, Turkey

We headed of to Marmaris Marina in a taxi around 1:30pm. Our taxi driver had a little trouble understanding where we needed to go and took us in to the marina instead of dropping us by the Tourist Information. Thankfully, Ali’s telephone number was in our MDFV Documents booklet that we had been sent, so the taxi driver took the initiative to call him and find out where we needed to be.

Finally arriving at the correct location, we were greeted by Ali, and introduced to our boat buddies – Jill, Ramona and her husband Nik and Katie and her partner Ben.

Ali took us the where our Gulet waited for us, and my it was a magnificent sight! A luxurious wooden yacht basking in the Turkish sun! It looked divine.

We climbed aboard, where we were met by Cindy, our yoga instructor for the week, Missy and our four man crew.

We were told where our rooms were (4 at the front of the boat, and four at the back), then allowed to go settle in.

Amy and I couldn’t believe it when we discovered that we had our own rooms! We were expecting to share, so it was a very pleasant surprise!

The rooms were a wonderful size! I had a twin room and it was very spacious. Between the two beds was a built-in table with drawers and a cupboard underneath. In the corner of the room was a good size wardrobe.

The en-suite bathroom had a large sink and vanity unit, toilet and corner shower cubicle.

Soon it was time to leave the marina, and head to our over night spot – Paradise Island (aka Cennet Island).

Everyone went off to get changed in to their swimming/sunbathing gear and make use of the gorgeous sun decks whilst we made the short journey.

When we had reached our destination and anchored up, it was time for our first evening exercise class on the front deck.

Missy started us off slowly with some gentle yoga. Despite going to the gym frequently, I haven’t done any yoga for about 10 years; but enjoyed it when I did.

After our exercise class, we had some time to chill before dinner, and there was only one thing to do:

Day one swimming

The water was rather chilly when you first got in, but you soon warmed up to it.

I haven’t been in the sea for about 20 years after I had an accident when in Australia – but I must admit that I really enjoyed being in the open water.

After our gorgeous healthy dinner, we were joined by an extra guest, Vera; who had been collected by speed boat by Ali.

We spent the evening, chatting and drinking and getting to know each other – everyone excited for this adventure.

Tomorrow – we hike Bozukkale Castle.
