This week’s theme for the The Gallery is Home.
This is what Tara over at Sticky Fingers has said about the challenge she has set:
“There’s no place like it, right? So what makes your home ‘home’? What’s your favourite bit, a favourite corner, a room with a story to tell? Is there something in your home you wouldn’t be without, or a treasured item, or something passed down the generations? Is there a place you sit to find peace or a room you’re particularly proud of?”
This is a particularly hard one, as I don’t really like my home. Yes, I’m lucky I have a home and that we own our home, but if we could buy over…I wouldn’t purchase it. Its small and cramped. The back garden is tiny and no matter how many times I pull the weeds out, they are back with a vengance. The soil is full of bricks (from the houses that used to occupy the site before ours were built and never cleared properly).
This is our house….but it’s not home….
To us, THIS is Home:
This is a picture of the condo P and his dad brought 9 years ago in Florida. Its our favourite place in the whole world. We love spending time there and NEVER want to leave….so much so we are looking in to emigrating.
To us, home is somewhere where you want to be. Where you look forward to going ‘home’ to. Where you just get that feeling that everything is fine ‘coz you’re home. We get that there. THAT is home to us, and we miss it.
