My Travel Bucket List

Growing up I was very fortunate to be able to travel with my family. My father was a truck driver and my sister and I used to take it in turns to go traveling with him. This would only be around Europe (mainly Italy, France and Holland), and we didn’t get to do much sightseeing, but it was nice spending time with Dad and driving through the mountains.

We also took family trips at least once a year. Cyprus was a trip we took often. We also visited Menorca, Majorca, and Spain on several occasions, as well as The Gambia, Florida and Western Australia.

Despite having holidayed a lot as a child, I don’t feel like we ever really traveled.

Days were mostly spent at the beach, pool or theme parks. We never really investigated the culture or any historical spots of the places we visited.

It wasn’t until I visited Turkey in 2015 that I really fell in love with traveling. With immersing myself in their culture. Learning about their history and visiting historical sites.

You can travel anywhere in the world, but there is so much that we never learn about the places we go. So much history that can be taught and shared. That, to me, is what traveling is about.

I have put together a list of places that I would love to visit. Some for the history, some for the beauty, and some just for the sheer adventure!

My plan is to visit them all, one day! I know it will take me years to get around them – especially with children, but I hope to complete it.

Is there anywhere you would add to the list?
