Having four children I am constantly doing washing. My children are typical children who enjoy mud and dirt. They also enjoy wiping dirty hands down the front of their tops, spilling drinks over themselves and leaning over, dipping their clothes in to the gravy or sauce that may be smeared all over their dinner plates.
Sometimes just simply washing an item of clothing isn’t suffice enough to clean it and the stained item of clothing is condemned to the “garden wear” drawer, never to be seen out and about.
Obviously to save the clothes from becoming rags, one thing you can try is a stain removal product.
I was sent some Vanish Oxi Action fabric stain remover powder and spray to try out and see if they can remove the stubborn stains created by the children.
That day, Prancer decided it was highly appropriate to miss her mouth when drinking her blackcurrant juice. Queue the stain down her lovely white school polo shirt!!
Now, being a very busy mummy – I don’t always have the time to pre-treat items of washing, which is what Vanish recommend to get the best results.
Instead – I sprayed the polo shirt directly with the Vanish spray and gave it a bit of a rub. I also added a scoop of the Vanish powder to the wash, with my normal detergent and softener – and hoped the for the best!
Needless to say, I really hadn’t worried!
I really wouldn’t recommend just winging it though like I did. I was in a rush, and on a mission to find the bottom of the laundry basket! Five loads in one day and I still didn’t find it! I will, however, make sure that when I remove the grass stains stuck to Capt. Chaos’ lovely light brown trousers – that I will be pre-treating and soaking as recommended.
There are plenty of tips and advice on the Vanish website about stain removal and how to get the most stubborn stains out of your clothes. They can literally give you tips on removing everything from coffee stains, cosmetics, sweat, and even how to clean off blood stains – which is definitely one stain I struggle to remove! The joys of adventurous boisterous children 🙂
*Disclaimer – I was sent the Vanish Oxi Action Fabric Stain Remover Spray and Powder for the purpose of this review. However, this in no way affected my opinions on the product.
