Yesterday I was up bright and early and in the car driving to the hospital by 8:15. My appointment wasn’t until 9am, but it can be a nightmare to get to and with the Olympics and M25 traffic, it’s always best to leave early. I arrived at 8:40am and decided to head in for my appointment.
I knew I was to have a scan beforehand and already had my form so I headed there first. As I was nice and early I went straight in. The sonographer did a growth scan first to check that baby is growing properly. He is bang on for the dates and of “average” size. Everything is as it should be and he weighs approximately 3lbs 14oz already!
Then came the bit I was dreading. Confirmation that the placenta definitely is not low-lying. It’s an internal scan, but thankfully it’s quick and it revealed all is good. Placenta is NOT low-lying! I’m so grateful to the Sonographer and Consultant who allowed me the extra scan after everything we went through last time.
I then had to wait around to see my Consultant. This is normally the bit that I dread, so I was glad that I didn’t have the children with me. I was called in around 9:35 and seen by the Midwife who did the compulsory urine check and blood pressure (all ok). She didn’t need to check for babies heartbeat as I had had a scan.
I was then seen by my Consultant’s Registrar, who I have said before is so lovely! She was fab with me when I was in hospital with A and I am so glad that she is still under my Consultant. She double checked that my section was booked in, and explained that as long as all goes well with the C-Section I should be home within 2days!! She also said I no longer needed to see them now until delivery!! I had my MRSA swabs taken there and then and was told to book in for my Pre-op assessment at the Reception. The Registrar told me that she’s on a course the day I am being delivered but will come and see me the following day!
I really cannot fault the care that I received last time or this time round. Makes me sad actually that this is possibly my last time 🙁
