Custom Orders & Event Confections Policies
Last Updated: July 22, 2026

Rach’s Place is pleased to offer custom and special-order work, including event confections, personalized creations, artisan commissions, jewelry, and other products offered on a custom-order basis.
Custom work is different from purchasing a ready-made product. Each order may involve individual design decisions, materials, production time, scheduling, pricing, and other details unique to the project.
These policies apply generally to custom and special orders accepted by Rach’s Place. Additional terms may be included in your individual quote, invoice, order summary, contract, or written communications.
By approving and placing a custom order, you agree to these policies and any additional terms provided for your specific order.
Orders, Prices & Payments, Scheduling
Custom Order Inquiries & Availability
Submitting an Inquiry
Custom orders begin with an inquiry.
Depending on the type of order, you may be asked to provide information such as:
Desired product or service
Event or needed-by date
Quantity
Size or serving needs
Flavors or fillings
Design ideas
Colors or theme
Materials or stones
Personalization
Budget
Pickup, delivery, or setup needs
Reference or inspiration images
Other details relevant to the project
Submitting an inquiry does not create a confirmed order or reserve an event date.
Availability
Custom-order availability depends on factors such as:
Current workload
Production schedule
Event date or deadline
Complexity of the project
Materials or ingredients
Seasonal availability
Required lead time
Family or business scheduling
Ability to safely and reasonably complete the requested work
Rach’s Place may decline a custom project that cannot reasonably be completed within the requested timeframe or that falls outside the products, techniques, materials, or services currently offered.
Quotes & Pricing
Custom orders are individually priced.
Any general prices, starting prices, serving guides, or examples shown on the website or social media are intended to help customers understand approximate pricing and do not guarantee the final price of a customized order.
Final pricing may depend on factors such as:
Size
Quantity
Design complexity
Detail level
Ingredients
Flavors and fillings
Materials
Stones or specialty components
Personalization
Labor
Specialty techniques
Equipment
Packaging
Delivery or setup
Rush scheduling
Other order-specific requirements
A quote applies only to the order as described at the time it is provided.
Changes to the design, quantity, size, materials, flavors, delivery requirements, or other details may change the final price.
Quote Validity
Quotes do not guarantee availability indefinitely.
If a quote includes an expiration or acceptance date, the order must be accepted according to the terms provided by that date.
If significant time passes before an order is confirmed, pricing and availability may need to be reviewed again.
Reserving an Order or Event Date
An event date or production spot is not reserved merely because an inquiry, consultation, or quote has occurred.
A custom order is considered confirmed only after all required booking steps have been completed.
Depending on the order, these may include:
Approval of the order details or quote
Required deposit, retainer, or payment
Signed agreement or contract when applicable
Required design information
Other booking requirements communicated for the order
Until those requirements are completed, Rach’s Place may accept other orders for the same timeframe.
Deposits, Retainers & Payments
Payment requirements vary according to the type, size, and timing of the custom order.
Your individual quote, invoice, or agreement will identify:
Any required deposit or retainer
Whether any portion is non-refundable
Payment schedule
Final payment due date
Accepted payment method
Any other applicable payment terms
Any amount identified as non-refundable will be disclosed before payment is made.
Custom work will not begin, materials may not be ordered, and event dates may not be reserved until required payments have been received.
Final Payment
Orders requiring a remaining balance must be paid according to the payment schedule provided with the order.
Failure to make required payments by the agreed deadline may result in:
Production being delayed
Work being paused
Delivery or setup being unavailable
The order being cancelled
Any cancellation or refund will be handled according to the terms applicable to that order and the cancellation provisions below.
Changes to Custom Orders
Please request changes as early as possible.
Rach’s Place will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requested changes, but changes cannot always be guaranteed after an order has been confirmed.
The ability to make a change may depend on:
How much work has already been completed
Materials or ingredients already purchased
Production schedule
Time remaining before the event or deadline
Availability of replacement materials
Structural or design limitations
Other existing customer commitments
Changes may result in additional charges.
Significant changes may require a revised quote or agreement.
Change Deadlines
Some orders may have a specific deadline after which changes cannot be guaranteed.
This deadline will be provided when applicable.
Requests made after that date may be declined or may require additional charges if they can reasonably be accommodated.
Customer Approval of Order Details
Customers are responsible for reviewing custom-order details carefully.
Before final approval, please verify information such as:
Names
Dates
Ages
Initials
Spellings
Wording
Colors
Quantities
Sizes
Flavors
Serving counts
Jewelry sizes
Personalization
Delivery or pickup details
Rach’s Place is not responsible for errors that were present in information supplied or approved by the customer.
If Rach’s Place makes an error that differs from the approved order details, we will work with you toward an appropriate resolution.
Cancellations
Because custom orders reserve production time and may require advance planning, materials, ingredients, design work, or other expenses, cancellation terms differ from ordinary retail purchases.
If you need to cancel, please contact Rach’s Place as soon as possible.
The amount eligible for refund will depend on:
Any non-refundable deposit or retainer disclosed when the order was placed
Materials or ingredients already purchased
Design or production work already completed
Non-refundable expenses already incurred
How close the cancellation is to the event or completion date
Whether the product can reasonably be resold or repurposed
Specific terms stated in the order agreement
Custom products that have already been completed or substantially completed may not be eligible for refund.
Any order-specific cancellation terms provided in writing will apply to that order.
Rescheduling
Requests to move an event or completion date will be considered based on availability.
A previously reserved date does not guarantee availability on a new date.
If Rach’s Place is able to accommodate the new date, existing payments may be transferred according to the circumstances and any written order terms.
Additional charges may apply when rescheduling results in:
Replacement ingredients or materials
Previously completed work becoming unusable
Rush production
New delivery arrangements
Other additional expenses
If the new date cannot be accommodated, the request may be treated as a cancellation under the applicable cancellation terms.
Rush & Last-Minute Orders
Rush or last-minute orders may be accepted when scheduling allows.
Additional charges may apply when an order requires:
Expedited materials or ingredients
Rearrangement of the production schedule
Additional labor
Expedited shipping of supplies
Other costs associated with shortened preparation time
Acceptance of rush orders is at the discretion of Rach’s Place and cannot be guaranteed.
EVENT CONFECTIONS
The following provisions apply specifically to custom cakes, cupcakes, decorated cookies, cake pops, dessert orders, and other custom food or confectionery products.
Serving Sizes & Quantities
Serving counts are estimates.
Actual servings depend on:
Product dimensions
Portion size
Cutting method
Person serving the product
Event style
Individual preferences
When serving estimates or cutting guides are provided, they are intended as planning tools and do not guarantee an exact number of portions in every situation.
The customer is responsible for ordering a quantity appropriate for their event.
Flavors, Fillings & Design Elements
Available flavors, fillings, frostings, coatings, decorations, and other options may vary.
Some combinations may not be suitable for:
Certain structures
Outdoor events
Extended display
High temperatures
Transportation
Particular decorating techniques
Rach’s Place may recommend or require modifications when necessary for product quality, structure, food safety, or reasonable performance.
Food Allergies & Dietary Requests
Rach’s Place takes ingredient and allergen concerns seriously.
However, products are prepared in environments where common food allergens may be present.
These may include:
Milk
Eggs
Wheat
Soy
Peanuts
Tree nuts
Sesame
Other allergens
Shared preparation areas, equipment, utensils, storage spaces, ingredients, or packaging may be used.
Rach’s Place cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or guarantee that cross-contact has not occurred.
Allergy & Dietary Requests
Please disclose food allergies, intolerances, sensitivities, and dietary concerns before placing your order.
Rach’s Place will honestly communicate whether a requested accommodation can reasonably be made.
Terms such as “gluten-free,” “dairy-free,” or similar descriptions relate to the ingredients intentionally used in the recipe unless specifically stated otherwise. They do not guarantee that cross-contact is impossible.
Customers with severe or medically significant allergies should carefully consider whether products prepared in a shared home-production environment are appropriate for their needs.
Customers ordering food for guests are responsible for communicating relevant ingredient and allergen information to those consuming the products.
Food Production & Consumer Information
Rach’s Place produces qualifying direct-to-consumer food products in accordance with applicable Idaho requirements.
Where required, consumers will be provided appropriate information regarding:
The producer
Contact information
Ingredients for multi-ingredient products
Applicable food-production disclosure
Potential allergens
Qualifying direct-to-consumer foods may carry or be accompanied by the following required notice:
“This product is not subject to government food safety inspection or licensing requirements. It may contain allergens.”
Customers should review product labels, ingredient information, and disclosures provided with their order.
Food Storage & Handling
Customers are responsible for following any storage, refrigeration, freezing, thawing, display, serving, or handling instructions provided with their order.
Some confections may require refrigeration or temperature-controlled handling because of their ingredients.
Once an order has been picked up, delivered, or set up, the customer or recipient is responsible for maintaining appropriate conditions.
Rach’s Place is not responsible for deterioration or damage caused after transfer due to:
Improper storage
Excessive heat
Freezing
Direct sunlight
Humidity
Rain
Wind
Pets
Children
Insects
Improper handling
Extended display
Unsafe transportation
Other conditions outside our control
Design & Artistic Interpretation
Custom work is handmade.
While Rach’s Place will make reasonable efforts to follow the agreed design, handmade products should not be expected to be identical to another artist’s work, a digital rendering, an inspiration photo, or a previous creation.
Reasonable variations may occur in:
Color
Shape
Placement
Piping
Lettering
Decorative details
Pattern
Texture
Proportion
Handmade elements
These natural variations are part of custom handmade work and are not considered defects.
Inspiration & Reference Images
Customers are welcome to provide inspiration images.
Reference images are used to communicate preferences such as:
Style
Theme
General layout
Color palette
Decorative elements
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, they are not a promise of an exact duplicate.
Rach’s Place may adapt a design based on:
Available materials
Techniques
Structural requirements
Food safety
Copyright or intellectual-property concerns
Artistic judgment
Budget
Product size
Other practical considerations
Color Matching
Rach’s Place will make reasonable efforts to coordinate requested colors.
Exact color matching cannot be guaranteed.
Colors may vary because of:
Food ingredients
Icing or fondant base colors
Edible color products
Natural materials
Lighting
Photography
Computer and phone screens
Changes that occur as icing or other materials dry or mature
When exact coordination is especially important, customers are encouraged to provide physical color samples when practical.
Decorative Elements & Non-Edible Components
Some confection designs may contain non-edible decorative or structural components, including:
Dowels
Supports
Cake boards
Floral picks
Toppers
Ribbons
Wire
Skewers
Other decorative or structural materials
Customers are responsible for ensuring that these items are removed as appropriate before serving or consuming the product.
Any special instructions provided with the order should be communicated to the person cutting or serving the product.
Customer-Provided Toppers, Decorations & Materials
Customers may sometimes provide:
Cake toppers
Figurines
Flowers
Decorations
Keepsakes
Other items for incorporation into a design
Use of customer-provided items must be approved in advance.
Rach’s Place may refuse to place or use an item if it appears:
Unsafe
Unsanitary
Structurally unsuitable
Too heavy
Incompatible with the product
Likely to damage the finished work
Otherwise inappropriate for food contact or use
Rach’s Place is not responsible for defects inherent in customer-provided or third-party items.
Fresh Flowers
Fresh flowers are not inherently food-safe simply because they are decorative.
They may contain:
Pesticides
Dirt
Insects
Sap
Toxic plant compounds
Other contaminants
Flowers intended for use on or near food must be disclosed and coordinated in advance.
Rach’s Place reserves the right to refuse flowers or greenery that are considered unsuitable for use with food.
When flowers are supplied by a florist, customer, venue, or other third party, Rach’s Place cannot guarantee their source, treatment, cleanliness, or food-contact suitability.
Any charges for preparing or arranging flowers will be included in the applicable quote or order terms.
Intellectual Property, Logos & Character Designs
Customers requesting copyrighted characters, logos, trademarks, artwork, or other protected designs should understand that Rach’s Place may:
Decline the request
Modify the concept
Use appropriately licensed materials
Create a more general theme rather than reproduce protected artwork
Acceptance of one design request does not guarantee that a similar request will be accepted in the future.
Pickup of Event Confections
Pickup arrangements will be established with the order.
Please arrive during the agreed pickup window or contact Rach’s Place as soon as possible if circumstances change.
Inspection at Pickup
Customers or their designated pickup person are encouraged to inspect the order before leaving when practical.
Once the product has been accepted and leaves Rach’s Place, responsibility for safe handling and transportation transfers to the person picking it up.
Transportation
Cakes and other delicate confections should generally be transported:
On a flat, level surface
In a clean and climate-controlled vehicle
Away from direct sunlight
Secured against sliding or tipping
With adequate space around the product
Seats, laps, and uneven surfaces are generally not appropriate for transporting cakes.
Rach’s Place is not responsible for damage caused by improper transportation, handling, braking, vehicle temperature, road conditions, or other events after a customer or their representative takes possession of the order.
Delivery & Setup
Delivery and setup may be available for certain orders and locations when arranged in advance.
Delivery is not automatically included with every custom order.

Delivery Timing

Venue address

Contact information
Setup location
Event timing
Other necessary details
Delays caused by inaccurate information, restricted venue access, unavailable contacts, locked facilities, or other circumstances outside our control may affect setup.
Venue & Setup Conditions
For orders requiring delivery or setup, the customer is responsible for ensuring that an appropriate location is available.
The setup area should be:
Stable
Level
Secure
Clean
Protected from weather
Appropriate for the weight and size of the display
Within a suitable temperature range for the products
Rach’s Place may decline or modify setup when the provided location creates an unreasonable risk of damage, collapse, contamination, melting, or other product failure.
Once delivery and agreed setup are complete, responsibility for the order transfers to the customer, venue, or designated responsible person.
Outdoor Events & Weather
Outdoor events create additional risks for cakes, confections, and dessert displays.
Heat, sunlight, humidity, wind, rain, dust, insects, uneven surfaces, and sudden weather changes can damage or compromise food products.
The customer is responsible for providing an appropriate protected environment.
Rach’s Place may recommend:
Indoor or shaded placement
Climate-controlled storage
Delayed display
Alternative ingredients or designs
Other adjustments
Rach’s Place may refuse to leave or set up a product in conditions that appear unsafe or likely to cause immediate product failure.
Once a product has been delivered or accepted under the agreed conditions, Rach’s Place is not responsible for later damage caused by weather or environmental conditions outside our control.

CUSTOM ARTISAN & COMMISSIONED WORK
The following terms apply to custom jewelry, personalized handmade goods, lapidary work, and other non-food commissioned products where applicable.
Handmade & Natural Variations
Custom artisan products are created by hand and may include natural materials.
Reasonable variations in:
Stone color
Pattern
Matrix
Inclusions
Texture
Metal finish
Tool marks associated with hand fabrication
Wood grain
Fiber or fabric
Other natural or handmade characteristics are part of the individuality of the product and are not considered defects.
Natural materials cannot always be duplicated.
A custom piece inspired by another item should be expected to be unique rather than identical.
Custom Jewelry Design
Custom jewelry pricing and design may depend on:
Metal type
Current material costs
Stone selection
Size
Complexity
Findings
Chain or components
Labor
Specialty techniques
Design details will be discussed before work begins.
Significant changes requested after fabrication has started may not be possible or may require additional charges.
Stones & Natural Materials
Natural stones, minerals, and other organic materials may contain naturally occurring:
Inclusions
Fractures
Pits
Pattern variations
Color variations
Matrix
Other characteristics
These features may be part of the stone rather than defects.
Rach’s Place will make reasonable efforts to identify any known structural concern that materially affects the intended use of a piece.
Customer-Supplied Materials
Use of customer-supplied stones, jewelry, heirlooms, components, or other materials must be discussed and approved in advance.
Working with preexisting or customer-supplied materials can carry risks, particularly when:
The material’s composition is unknown
A stone contains unseen fractures
Metal is thin, brittle, worn, or previously repaired
Heat or pressure is required
Existing construction is unknown
Rach’s Place will use reasonable care but cannot guarantee that unknown weaknesses will not be discovered or that fragile customer-provided materials will withstand fabrication.
Any special risk or limitation known before work begins will be discussed when reasonably possible.
Sizing & Measurements
Customers are responsible for providing accurate measurements when custom work depends on size.
This may include:
Ring size
Bracelet length
Necklace length
Clothing or sewn-item measurements
Other dimensions
Changes requested because incorrect measurements were supplied by the customer may require additional charges and may not always be possible.
Repairs or Alterations to Custom Work
Availability of future resizing, repair, or alteration depends on the design and materials.
Not every handmade piece can be resized or modified without rebuilding or damaging the original work.
Any future repair or alteration will be evaluated individually and may involve additional charges unless the issue resulted from a verified defect in the original workmanship.
Photography, Extenuating Circumstances, Terms & Updates, & Questions
PHOTOGRAPHY & PORTFOLIO USE
Rach’s Place may photograph custom work for:
Portfolio use
Website content
Social media
Advertising
Educational or promotional purposes
Photographs focused on the product itself may be used without additional compensation.
We will make reasonable efforts not to publicly disclose private customer information in product photographs.
If a product contains information you do not want publicly displayed—such as a full name, photograph, address, or other personally identifying detail—please notify Rach’s Place before the order is completed so reasonable accommodations can be discussed.
CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL
Occasionally, circumstances beyond reasonable control may affect the ability to complete, deliver, or perform a custom order as originally planned.
Examples may include:
Severe weather
Natural disasters
Fire
Extended utility outage
Serious illness or emergency
Accident
Supply disruption
Government action
Transportation interruption
Venue closure
Other extraordinary circumstances
If such an event materially affects an order, Rach’s Place will make reasonable efforts to communicate with the customer and determine the most appropriate available solution.
Depending on the circumstances, options may include:
Modification
Rescheduling
Substitution with approval
Partial fulfillment
Refund of an appropriate amount
Another mutually agreed solution
Nothing in this section is intended to remove any rights that cannot legally be waived.
ORDER-SPECIFIC TERMS
Because custom orders vary significantly, individual quotes, invoices, contracts, order summaries, or written agreements may include additional terms.
When an order-specific written term differs from this general policy, the order-specific term will generally control for that particular order unless prohibited by applicable law.
Customers should retain copies of their order information and review all terms before making required payments.
POLICY UPDATES
Rach’s Place may update these Custom Orders & Event Confections Policies as the business, services, products, or legal requirements change.
The policies and order-specific terms in effect when an order is confirmed will generally apply to that order unless a later change is required by law or mutually agreed upon.
The current revision date appears at the top of this page.
