It can be messy and hectic, but it is also one of the places where so much of our family life happens.
I have always loved making things from scratch—whether I am cooking a family meal, decorating an elaborate set of cookies, trying a new recipe, or making something useful for the kitchen itself. The dining room is a natural extension of that. It is where the things made in the kitchen are shared, where we sit down together, celebrate special occasions, welcome guests, and sometimes linger around the table long after the meal is finished.
